Privacy Policy

Daoust Design and Construction ("we" or "us") designs, builds and remodels homes in the Reno, Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. This page explains what information our website, daoustdc.com, collects, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
What you send us. When you use the contact form, the Walk Your Lot request, or email or call us, we get what you give us: your name, email address, phone number, the address of your lot or home, and whatever you tell us about your project.
What the site records on its own. Like most websites, ours records basic technical details when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that sent you here. We use Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel for this, and they set cookies in your browser. Our website host, Squarespace, sets cookies that make the site work and also keeps its own count of visitors and the pages they view.
How we use it
To answer you, schedule a site walk, and prepare estimates and proposals.
To keep records of the projects we take on.
To see how people use the site so we can improve it.
To show our ads to people who have visited the site, through Google and Meta, when we run ads.
To send our monthly Journal email to people who have asked for it or have worked with us. Mailchimp records whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your information. You can also tell us never to sell it. Email jed@daoustdc.com with "Do not sell my information" in the subject line. We may ask you to confirm it is you, and we will answer within 60 days.
Who else sees it
We share information with the companies that run things for us: Squarespace (website and forms), Microsoft and GoDaddy (our email), Google (analytics, ads, a copy of our email, and documents), Meta (advertising), Mailchimp (the Journal email), and QuickBooks (bookkeeping). Each handles it under its own privacy policy.
If you hire us, we also share what the job needs with the people building it: our subcontractors, engineers and surveyors, the building department and your HOA for permits and approvals, and your lender if you ask us to. Beyond that we share it with no one unless the law requires it.
Our mailbox backup. We run a small program of our own that backs up our company mailbox. It connects to our own Google account with read-only access to Gmail, copies our messages to storage we control, and does nothing else. Only we use it. It never connects to anyone else's Google account. If you emailed us, your message is in that mailbox, and the backup keeps it under the same rules as our other project records. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Cookies and tracking
We do not show a cookie banner. Google Analytics and the Meta pixel set their cookies as soon as a page loads. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time, and Google offers a browser add-on that turns off Google Analytics. Google and Meta may use their cookies to recognize you across other websites; you can limit that in your Google ad settings and your Facebook ad preferences. Our site does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals from browsers.
Your choices and your records
Email us at jed@daoustdc.com to see what we have on file for you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will answer within 30 days. We keep project records as long as we need them for warranty, licensing and tax purposes. We keep contact messages so we can pick up where we left off if you come back to us. If you ask us to delete yours, we will, apart from what we have to keep for tax, licensing or warranty reasons.
Children
Our site is for adults planning building projects. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Links
Our site links to other sites, such as our Instagram page. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
